SopranoSue's Sightings

August 2, 2000
So summer has started and filming has finally begun. My cell phone started ringing early this morning and low and behold, I heard those three magic words, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Well, guess where the location is?! One block from my office in Jersey City. The hell with coffee, I'm taking a walk. Since 4 am this morning they have been setting up for a shot in the Jersey City Cemetery on Newark Avenue, Jersey City. Looks like a funeral, everyone is in black. Boy, is it hot and the humidity is 99.9%! Great day to be under the cameras, lights and plenty of makeup. There is a big police presence, traffic is backing up. I try talking one of the crew into taking my camera closer to take pictures, I offer him my coveted fenced-in parking spot, a seat in my air conditioned office at break, but you just can't bribe these guys). There are 5 guys outside the cemetery fence (black wrought iron) with suits on which I assume are the ever present FBI. There are 5 or 6 long black stretch limos, flowers, this is definitely a funeral. Is it Livia's?

Sopranos filming at Jersey City CemeteryAnyhow, it's too hot to stand out here, so I go back to the office. I call my closest and dearest friend Donna, and tell her and then she tells me that some guy in her office's niece, let the Sopranos film in her basement in Belleville last night. Two main characters were there and she said that they also filmed at a Belleville funeral home last night. I'll try to find out the name.

Update!
The Hero of the Week Award goes to Julie, who knew the name of the funeral home that the crew was using for filming... COZZARELLI MEMORIAL HOME, located on Washington Street in Belleville, NJ. Julie was lucky enough to have a dentist appointment (if you call that lucky) right down the street from the filming and was fortunate enough to get autographs. She mentioned that the actors were real nice. We thank her for sharing her photos with us.

So anyway that was my day silently stallking the Soprano film crew. I will try my best to keep you updated and if anyone has any legitimate tips, please pass them along and I'll see if I can sneak away from my day job and check them out. If I get any decent pictures they'll be added here, but I don't want to be rude in my quest to check out the filming. These people are professionals and I respect that. If you have questions about other locations e-mail me. I may be able to answer or I may not, but I will try.
