Q: 3. Is there a risk from sewers and drains flooding?
A: When rainfall exceeds the capacity of the drains and sewers, they will flood. Such flooding is not very pleasant, as it will contain human effluent from the sewers. Unfortunately, this type of flooding can occur anywhere where a drain or sewer cannot cope with the water coming from rain. Further information is available from Scottish Water or you can call Scottish Water on 0845 600 8855 |

Q: 4. Can I obtain sandbags from the Council?
A: Each Council has its own policy in relation to the supply of sandbags to members of the public. In all cases stocks are limited and there may not be sufficient to meet all requests during widespread flooding.
TIf you live in a known 'risk' area you should invest in appropriate flood protection products. You can get details of suppliers by telephoning Floodline on 0845 988 1188 and asking for a Floodpack or by or by visiting the SEPA website. |
